Abstract :
For optical code division multiple-access (OCDMA), it has been demonstrated by simulations that chip-level (AND) receivers outperform correlation (SUM) receivers in bit error rate (BER) performance when noise is not considered. In this paper, we prove theoretically that for an OCDMA system utilizing 2D signature codes, an AND detector gives a better BER performance than a SUM detector when the optical pulses are used in detection.
