Abstract :
A novel 2-layer rectangular patch antenna is designed and tested. Compared with a conventional single layer patch antenna with the same projection area, the resonant frequency is reduced by 40%. The bandwidth is 5% and the gain is 2 dBi. The E-plane cross-polarization level is less than -20 dB. The 3 dB beamwidth is 76° for the E-plane and 82° for the H-plane
