Abstract
In the ultra-wideband (UWB) system the pulses are transmitted at a very low level, where the signal looks like low level noise to the other wireless system. Therefore, a good understanding of the UWB signal propagation is necessary. Moreover, UWB communications rely on an unusual wireless technology (a carrier free and huge bandwidth), so that designing of UWB system raises a number of questions. This paper describes a theoretical study of the UWB propagation and losses. This study is based on two ray model in the case of short range line of sight UWB transmission. The model takes into account both frequency dependent parameters and distance.
