Abstract :
A novel solution to the modelling of charge-pump phase-locked loops (CP-PLLs) is reported. Discrete-time analysis was used to obtain linearized difference equations. A classification has been introduced to facilitate analysis of the CP-PLLs. The Z-transform has been applied. Numerical results indicate that the proposed discrete approach is necessary in the case of broadband CP-PLL systems
