Abstract

Various aspects of the classification and retrieval mechanisms which have been applied in the ESPRIT-2 project REBOOT are discussed. This classification scheme is now being slightly modified due to requirements identified through practical application. The authors first discuss different ways of classification and retrieval in general. Then the classification scheme originally proposed by REBOOT is examined. The authors share their experiences throughout the development and application of this scheme. A proposal for a refined version of the scheme that alleviates some of the shortcomings of the original scheme is presented. Some conclusions are drawn, from their work, and problems which are of primary concern are pointed out
