Abstract :
For evaluating parking rates without the usage of tickets the reading of car license plates from video image sequences taking from the fronts of incoming cars was implemented under use of artificial neural networks (ANNs). The detection of the number plate area and the classification of the classically separated character regions were implemented by different ANN approaches with convincing results
