Abstract :
Remnant life assessment of old power apparatus is often desired for decision regarding replacement/renovation program. In absence of any previous data of testing, life assessment prediction is difficult. However certain condition assessment tests can reveal comparative status of its critical component (mainly insulation system). This testing, if done as per laid down procedures, can help in fairly reasonable life prediction for particularly old machines which has out-lived its design life. This paper covers a case study related to electrical generators installed at coal fields in Eastern India
