Abstract :
Single junction a-Si:H solar cells with various configurations of sub-wavelength features were explored based on the material composition of the nano-elements, the absorber thickness, and the direction of light application. Cell performance and the interplay among photonic, plasmonic, and the absorber thickness effects are shown to vary dramatically depending on the architecture. An example configuration of LCCM cells showed the Jsc was changed less than 3% as the absorber thickness was reduced in half (from 400nm to 200nm).
