Abstract
This paper reports the authors´ experiences in teaching introductory programming for engineers in an interactive classroom.. The authors describe how the course has evolved from the traditional course, the structure of the classroom, the choice of software, and the elements involving interactive, active, and collaborative learning. They discuss their strategy for assessment. They describe the assessment results including a retrospective assessment of the previous course. They suggest how the course relates to the nontraditional student. They conclude with some suggestions for future modifications
