Abstract :
The Power Electronics Building Block (PEBB) concept is a platform-based approach where basic building blocks are consistent with one another, have a defined functionality, standardized hardware & control interfaces. Adoption of building blocks for multiple applications, results in high volume production, and reductions in engineering effort, design testing, onsite installation and maintenance work. U.S. Navy´s Office of Naval Research (ONR) has funded several universities and manufacturers to apply the PEBB concept to a broad range of applications. This paper describes the evolution of PEBB from concept to reality in already delivered products.
