Abstract
In this paper, we study congestion control schemes in high-speed networks. We focus on bimodal congestion control scheme proposed by Attie et al., as an alternative to AIMD that is used in the current TCP. By the result of extensive simulations, we found that although bimodal could improve the throughput of AIMD by 10% in low-speed networks, the amount of improvements are limited in high-speed networks because of the high frequency of retransmissions of packets.
