Abstract :
A joint industry and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) safety initiative that uses advanced technologies to give new tools to both industry and the FAA is now under way in Alaska. This Alaskan initiative, known as the Capstone program combines an airborne and ground infrastructure package comprised of some of the same systems envisioned for global communications, navigation, surveillance (CNS) and air traffic management (ATM) with a "real world" evaluation of the effectiveness of these new technologies
