  • Abstract
This paper begins with a general description of aircraft intent and prediction techniques that are sometimes mistakenly equated with intent. A more structured definition of intent is provided by a summary of the intent concepts appearing in the Minimum Aviation System Performance Standards (MASPS) for Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B). Limitations of the ADS-B MASPS intent mechanization (with respect to tactical conflict prediction applications) are discussed
