Abstract
Summary form only given. It is estimated that over 100,000 industrial lasers are used in production applications in the world´s manufacturing industries. Carbon dioxide and Nd:YAG lasers, at all power levels, cut, weld, mark, and surface treat materials. Diode-pumped solid-state, excimer and diode lasers, used in microprocessing applications, are expected to continue laser growth in the early years of the next millennium.
