Abstract
A new and original ac/dc three-phase converter suitable to be applied in DC catenary´s power systems for electric traction is presented. The overall control strategy for providing constant DC voltage, Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) signal generation, and simulation results are also presented. The proposed converter topology uses twelve power switches (three legs) and an inductor-capacitor dc-bus. This converter is able to simulate infinite DC busbar performance, providing constant, load independent, output voltage, giving the advantages of a good Power Factor (PF), a low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), and smaller filters.
