Abstract :
A general understanding of the concept of Mutual Recognition is examined based on the agenda identified by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. This paper discusses benefits and barriers as well as some key issues related to implementation of the concept in both academic and professional recognition. Several different models for assessment of existing highly-intensified higher education; which covers the educational base is examined. In Malaysia, the role of governmental agencies such as the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) well as other professional bodies and universities are highlighted in this regard. In short, the paper attempts to develop a common language for discussing the whole issue of mutual recognition of academic qualifications.
