Abstract
A procedure is described for combining and visualizing complementary structural and functional information from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET). MR and PET images of the human brain were obtained and correlated to form three-dimensional volumes of image data. Using a volumetric imaging technique, a procedure was developed to texture-map brain glucose metabolism onto brain anatomy. Sequences of three-dimensional views were produced and displayed dynamically to indicate the three-dimensional relationship between brain structure and brain function
