Abstract :
Summary form only given. Ba(NO/sub 3/)/sub 2/ and KGd(WO/sub 4/)/sub 2/ are well known candidates for efficient stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) to generate new wavelengths. In our contribution the Raman shifted wavelengths at 1198 nm, 1177 nm and 1159 nm of the main Nd:YAG laser transition were frequency doubled into the yellow spectral region which generally is difficult to reach with solid state lasers. The favourable /spl chi//sup (3)/-effects such as the reduction of pump pulse duration and beam quality improvement could be observed with a new transversally diode pumped Raman laser.
