Abstract
Determining the size of candidate matching areas (CMAs) is the basic premise for matching suitability analysis in geomagnetic aided navigation (GAN), and this problem is investigated from the viewpoint of inertial navigation system (INS) precision here. Through the analysis of the influencing factors of the size, the mathematical model is constructed from the perspective of statistics, which makes sure that both the real track and the INS track are included in the CMA with a probability of 99.74%. Experimental results show that the proposed model is effective for determining the size of CMAs, and the conclusions can pave the way for the following matching suitability analysis.
