Abstract
Visitors and visits are building block concepts for most web analytics instruments. The way a visits or a unique visitor are determined is crucial for interpreting web log data. Tests show that the most accurate analytics method (i.e., using authentication data) have to be used on educational content to obtain relevant insights. Most current web analytics are focused on e-commerce sites where the objective is quantifiable (i.e., purchases) as opposed to e-learning where the objective is teaching.
