• Some 30% of global economy is directly tied to the environment. Knowledge of the Earth system is fundamental for well informed economic decision making • Sustained Earth observations and modeling are critical to understanding the Earth and environmental interactions • Earth information is diverse and spans many scales, therefore a global approach to Earth observation is required
