Domain ontology is playing an increasingly role in contingency plan digital. This study presents an automated construction method to extract domain ontology from Relational Database (RDB) for contingency plan. Additionally, database reverse engineering mechanism is applied to obtain logic model and conceptual model, as well as physical model was achieved through querying system tables. Moreover, transformation rules are defined by analyzing Relational Data Model (RDM)´s normal and abnormal relations. Thus, concepts, relations and their attributes can be generated from these data models for domain ontology. Through constructing domain ontology of coalmine contingency plan, the experiment shows that the proposed approach can effectively construct domain ontology from domain RDB, and it also can improve the construction rate and promote the contingency plan digital process.
