Abstract :
The intrinsic essence of DOA estimation of the vector hydrophone array utilizing ESPRIT algorithm is analyzed. All the processing methods can be classified into two types. One is utilizing the rotational invariance information of acoustic pressure and particle velocity and the other estimates DOA parameters using the information of different subarrays. The formulas for theoretical error of DOA estimation methods are deduced and a weighted angle fusion algorithm to improve estimation performance is proposed. Simulation results show that the theoretical error formulas are in good agreement with the practical circumstances and the proposed method improves the estimation performance.
