Abstract :
This paper deals with the effects of spoiler to the breakdown features of detached vortex of delta wing at different incidences and incoming flow speeds. Experiments were carried out in a water towing tank. A spoiler generating additional vortex was fixed on the leading edge at resolved position. The vortex generated by spoiler combines with the delta wing detached vortex, which could enhance the stability of detached vortex. The PIV measurements exhibited that, spoiler can postpone the breakdown phenomenon. Flow visualization revealed that, the delay effect of vortex breakdown was very sensitive with respect to the position and dimensions of the spoiler.
