  • Abstract
Summary form only given. Dispersion management (DM) solitons can reduce the Gordon-Haus jitter and soliton-soliton interaction; and are expected to play an important role in long-distance, high-speed communication systems in which ultrashort optical pulses are transmitted. However, as the pulse width becomes narrower, the third-order dispersion begins to perturb the DM soliton. So far, the exact solution of the DM soliton has been numerically found when the third-order dispersion is ignored, but there remains an open question whether the DM soliton can be stable under the influence of the third-order dispersion. To address this question, we numerically show that the exact solution of DM solitons can exist in the transmission line with the third-order dispersion, and that it is stable after propagating over a distance at least fifty times longer than the third-order-dispersion length.
