Abstract
Network operation at EDF French Guyana seeks dependability plus optimised use of hydroelectric resources, to reduce overall production costs with no loss of service quality. A requirement is that frequency should not drop below the second load-shedding threshold (47 Hz) in the event of generator dropout. This article outlines a statistical method that examines a large number of simulated network configurations to determine operating rules accommodating optimisation capable of meeting cost reduction targets
