Abstract :
This paper proposes a ferrite left handed coplanar waveguide (LH CPW) phase shifter that makes no use of any active element. The ferrite substrate was designed to be biased by an external DC magnetic causing the ferrite substrate to be magnetized in the same direction as the applied DC magnetic bias. A horizontal DC magnetic bias has been used with the CPW configuration which has the advantage of smaller demagnetization field compared with microstrip configuration. The desired lead/lag phase shift was adjusted through the selection of the loading elements. By varying the applied DC magnetic bias to the ferrite substrate, the operational bandwidth can be tuned.
