  • Abstract
The emergency management system (EMS) is one of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) services. EMS plays an essential role of improving emergency operations. In this paper, we present a novel road management system (RMS) capable of advancing EMS applications. The proposed RMS approach is based on a WiFi and WiMAX interworked secure wireless city (SWC) architecture with user authentication and seamless connectivity is provided. The RMS consists of four functional units: routing enforcer, route manager, multifunctional auxiliary facility manager, and warning-message generator. The RMS in conjunction with the SWC architecture provides a robust scheme for enhancing emergency services in wireless city.
