Abstract :
Transmit-array is an alternative of lens antennas which transmits electromagnetic (EM) waves. The EM wave is received at one side of the surface, and the phase of each element is adjusted to retransmit it from the other side. It has become very popular due to the advancement of printed antennas because of low surface profile, small mass and low cost. Using MMIC and MEMS technologies, thousands of printed patches can be etched on a dielectric substrate to form an array which acts as the transmit-array. By controlling the phase of each element, beam steering can be obtained easily.
