Abstract :
The paper presents a quasi-log periodic dipole array (LPDA) antenna structure with multiband response and acceptable omni-directional radiation patterns. This antenna is well suited for low cost hand-held devices which generally use FR-4 substrate material. It also provides for the flexibility of reconfigurability by employing RF switches and can easily be manipulated for a variety of operational frequency bands. Future study involves improved matching levels for the frequency bands, optimizing switch locations, characterizing the changes to the LPDA radiation performance as the antenna is switched and finally prototype fabrication and experimental verification.
