Abstract
The results obtained from the work demonstrate that the introduction of variable slots in the patches of the reflectarray offers a number of significant advantages which include miniaturization of antenna and less chances of mutual coupling between adjacent elements. It has also been shown that an enhanced bandwidth is achieved in terms of slope around the resonance frequency which decreases from 106.12 ο/n to 42.64 ο/n by the introduction of slots. Moreover the linear static phase range is increased from 335.6° to 346.8° for the same number of elements. This shows a reduction in the phase errors of the reflectarray can be achieved when different combinations of variable slots are employed as compared to variable length patch reflectarray.
