Abstract :
Results obtained with a prototype expert decision-support system for interpretation of sensory evoked-potential waveforms are described. An analytic module calculates several parameters from the waveform, and the parameters are converted into scores to be used by a rule-based module. The scores are treated as linguistic variables to determine whether a response is present with low, medium, or high confidence. Results obtained with the system are presented. The parameters can also be summarized by fuzzy descriptors. The advantages and disadvantages of the two approaches are discussed
