Abstract :
There are two network architectures touted for video delivery in an FTTP network: CATV-like video over RF using, for example, the 1550 nm PON enhancement band; switched video-over-IP over the access network. Both quantitative cost models and qualitative analysis shows a RF/IP hybrid network, which uses the RF overlay for broadcast content and the IP access network for targeted content is the best architecture for delivering voice, video, and data.
