Abstract
For pt.I, see Systems and Control Lett., vol.12, p.87-92 (1989). It is shown that in the generic case a planar nonlinear system, linear in a single control, can be stabilized at any isolated equilibrium point at which an obvious necessary condition for stability is not satisfied. The results apply to C ω systems and to generic C ∞ systems. The proofs are based on the center manifold theorem
