Abstract
This paper proposes a new concept, dynamic decision-event tree, for rapid response to impending system cascading. The paper gives a classification and probability order of high-order contingencies that threaten the security of power systems. A detailed account of the concept of DDET, its elements, and how a system operator may use it are also included. An illustration of how to generate a DDET for a small 9-bus power system is provided
