Abstract :
A mathematical model is developed to analyze the performance of a cellular radio system with a corner exited cellular concept. Such a concept is highly suitable for improving the coverage of the cell area in macrocellular systems. The system considered is interference limited cellular radio telephony without thermal noise. The area of each cell in this system is covered by base stations placed in three corners of the hexagonal cell using directional antennas. Signals are considered to be subject to Rayleigh fading and log-normal shadowing. The performance of this system is evaluated for the uplink where the strongest signal has been selected, and a simulcast system has been considered for the downlink
