Abstract :
This paper analyses the software method of matching propeller to engine in existence, points out their disadvantages on preliminary design, puts forward a new method, which searches the propeller matching with the main engine and which is of highest efficiency within its work range of revolution. The calculation result attests the exactitude of this method. The method can be used to draw analysis chart, which has significant meaning to analyze the matching of main engine and propeller under different conditions. Based on the basic concept, a new way about the finial design of propeller is also proposed, namely, at a certain ship speed, if a propeller can be available, it can match with the main engine; but when the ship speed increases and no propeller can match with the main engine, then the corresponding propeller is needed.
