Abstract :
Summary form only given. Optical frequency domain reflectometry (OFDR) is a very attractive technique for the characterization of optical network and components because of its high spatial resolution and high sensitivity. In OFDR, the spatial resolution is inversely proportional to the frequency-chirp range of the optical source, so that light sources with a wider frequency-chirp range have been sought to improve the resolution. In this paper we investigate an effect of a group velocity dispersion (GVD) of an optical fiber on the OFDR.
