Abstract
This paper gives an overview of the optimization program developed to minimize the volume of an integrated magnetic passive component, designed for a switch mode power supply. The design procedures and the optimization problem formulation are presented. A study of integrated component magnetic and thermal behaviors is carried out with finite-element software. The results substantiate the design. Demonstrators have been realized using a multilayer planar technology. Comparisons with experimental results are made.
