Abstract :
A sensing and temperature control system structure is proposed that uses one thermoelectric module (TEM). The system was implemented in a solar testing environment to evaluate human body interactions. The solar simulator cast the sun-light on a petri dish, and a TEM sensed the temperature under the dish, heating or cooling the petri dish as required to ensure the appropriate temperature. Using this unique close-loop control structure solve the nonuniform temperature sensing and heating problem. Moreover, no external temperature sensing or controlling device is required. The proposed sensing and temperature control method can heat a petri dish from 28 °C to 37 °C in approximately 150s, demonstrating 0.2 °C temperature variations in a 6cm2 area.
