Abstract :
An improved A* algorithm for the optimization of the vertical flight path based on terrain following is proposed. Which resolves the problem that the A* algorithm needs much more time when searching in big space. The paper primarily analyzes A* algorithm, and presents a new improved method of the traditional A*. In the route planning the approach angle to goal position is considered. Numeral simulations are carried out by using various typical terrain; the results accord with the requirements of optimal reference path in terrain following system. Simulation results show that this is a perfect method for route planning of low altitude penetration with higher quality and efficiency.
