Abstract :
It has been proved that TCP Vegas can make better performance compared to many other delay-based transport protocols, such as TCP Reno. However, when TCP Vegas is used in the mixed network environment that coexists with other TCP flows, it still exist some disadvantages in aspect of sharing with bandwidth, such as unfairness and less aggressive. So we propose a new congestion avoidance mechanism based on TCP Vegas to overcome such disadvantages and make its performance that features of fairness and aggressive, become much more efficiently. By our simulations, it proves that our algorithm (TCP Vegas-V) guarantees good performance that meets our demands in the respect of sharing with bandwidth and preserves the properties of Vegas that the desirable feature (e.g. stability) when TCP Vegas-V coexists with other congestion control mechanisms in the network.
