Abstract :
Electronic measuring instruments are often involved in the collection of data relating to a production process. This data is utilised to monitor the process in order to understand it better and the parameters are usually described statistically. With this statistical knowledge the process can be refined and adjusted in some way to improve its output, for example a product, in terms of quality and/or cost. In effect this is a stochastic feedback loop around the process and called SPC - Statistical Process Control. The author discusses the use of the SPC technique in instrument calibration and production process control
