Abstract :
In this paper a compact 3-antenna diversity set is presented which includes two satellite antennas and a terrestrial antenna for the mobile reception of SDARS signals in GEO and HEO satellite systems. A 3-antenna diversity module is presented which enables the combining of radiation patterns with an improved main beam pointed to any satellite direction. The maximum gain of two combined antennas can be increased with up to 3 dB when compared to a single antenna. The antennas are placed on the same position, thus the 3-antenna diversity set requires the same volume as a standard single satellite antenna.
