Abstract :
The error performance analysis of a maximum a posteriori (MAP) receiver (coherent as well as noncoherent) for linearly modulated binary signals transmitted over frequency nonselective Rayleigh fading channels with intersymbol interference (ISI) is presented. A hidden Markov model (HMM) is used in the receiver design to characterize the Rayleigh fading process. Computer simulations have been done under different fading rates and different HMMs, and the results agree well with the analysis, especially when fading is slow. Comparison of error performance between this receiver and the MLSE receiver proposed for the same channel has also been made
