Abstract :
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the electrical field distribution and to develop the arc motion model. It is assumed the major cause of arc immobility is the re-distribution of an electric field in arc presence. The simple model of an electric field between electrodes with an arc is proposed. First results of simulations of electric field distribution between two electrodes and into the arc chamber with various numbers of plates in the arc presence are presented. It is shown the arc movement velocity and the arc shape depend on the electric field strength distribution.
