Abstract
Summary form only given. The authors show that periodically along the propagation direction, the two component Bessel beams, with different sizes of central spot, destructively interfere to form localised intensity minima bounded in three dimensions by regions of higher intensity. We term a beam of this kind an "optical bottle beam" and believe that beams of this kind may have uses for atom trapping applications.
