Abstract
The creation of a cross-platform multimedia CD-ROM requires a detailed project plan, cooperation from data providers and vendors, and spans a wide variety of skills. The common perception that making a CD is as easy as copying files from one disk to another is not true. There are a number of technical and administrative issues that confront a CD producer. Problems result from the integration of multiple datatypes and the lack of maturity in the data preparation and CD-formatting tools. One CD producer chronicles his experiences so others can learn from his successes and mistakes
