Abstract :
In a unified micro-cellular network where micro-cells are deployed along major roads to provide multimedia communications even to many number of fast terminals, high bit rate packet transfer in spite of frequent handover can be achieved with LMC (logical macro-cell) consisting several adjacent micro-cells and parallel polling to the micro-cells in the same LMC. If a Pico-cell is placed within a micro-cell, it can boost the performance of micro-cells to release from the local congestion which can easily happen at the crossing where vehicles stop before traffic signals, and much radio resources is not required for that because the Pico-cell is isolated from others and thus, the same radio resources can be reused among Pico-cells. Polling scheme also allows the smooth packet transfer even in handover between the micro-cell and the Pico-cell. Rough evaluation borrowing the parameters from IEEE 802.11 presents performance balance among all micro-cells in the unified micro-cellular network.
