Abstract :
This paper deals with PSpice simulations of normalized and unnormalized varistor tests. At first are describe basic characteristic parameters of varistor. The next section of paper introduces to standard EN 61000-4-5:2006 Testing and measurement techniques - surge immunity test, which is applicable to device for surge protection against high voltage transient and surges. Combination waveform 1.2/50μs + 8/20μs was used for normalized test simulation. The unnormalized test presents high voltage multistage generator (Marx generator), with the output open circuit voltage waveform according to EN 61000-4-5. Simulation results were verified by measurement in standardized laboratory.
